Can I verify someone else's proof?

Yes—verification is completely open and independent.

How to Verify

Anyone can verify a timestamp proof in three ways:

  1. On our platform: Visit ProofYouWereFirst.com/verify and upload the .ots file + original file. We'll check the proof on-chain.
  2. OpenTimestamps.org: Go to opentimestamps.org and verify the .ots file yourself using the official open-source tools.
  3. Manual verification: Developers can verify timestamps programmatically using the OpenTimestamps library.

Why This Matters

Unlike platform-based proofs (which rely on trusting the platform), Bitcoin timestamps are self-verifying. The proof exists on-chain, independent of ProofYouWereFirst.

Even if our platform disappeared tomorrow, your proof would still be valid and verifiable forever.
